The Renowned Musician Urges Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign seeks to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
A Chance for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“It occupies a profound significance for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced after a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All participated in the September show, which managed to collect a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was brought to life by a team of music creators. The song features a combination of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The group managing the initiative have emphasized that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These donations will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a spokesperson explained. “We aim for whatever we can get. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The situation in the territory was noted for its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of infrastructure said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a few million won't make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is first of all raising awareness for this issue and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a digital service from the 19th of December.
