The Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting Versus defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Astros securing the championship in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their initial World Series after 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the ALCS.

Behind by two runs, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 victory in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, the team that is the current crown, in the upcoming World Series.

"I'm just so happy for our team, Toronto, the nation," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now connected for 23 playoff homers, ranking him third all-time behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (27).

"I can't think of anyone else on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that spot besides Springer with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the sole team never to appear in a World Series.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but praised their work this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we finished on the losing end of the series," he added.

The Blue Jays claimed the World Series on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will host the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
