Almost 55,000 households have currently been impacted by the weather, with their possessions and shelters ruined.

Persistent rains over the last seven days have worsened the extremely difficult circumstances of the hundreds of thousands of uprooted Palestinians in the region, according to aid groups.

"Awful" Night Creates Grave Risks

A official detailed the previous night's conditions as "horrendous", with downpours so heavy that around 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.

"The recent weather was exceptionally horrendous for the families. The downpours were so powerful... And the gales were so strong," stated the official.

There is significant concern that young ones residing in makeshift shelters in soaked clothing will succumb to hypothermia and additional illnesses.

Deaths and Significant Destruction

The health ministry have stated that one baby has succumbed from exposure and at least 11 other people have lost their lives in roof cave-ins due to the storms.

Other reports put a higher number of casualties. Spokespeople said that several homes had totally fallen and scores had sustained partial collapse.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by flooding.
  • More than 40 designated safe spaces submerged.
  • Countless residents required to move once more.

Assistance Efforts Deemed Insufficient

Agencies have stepped up distribution of tarpaulins, blankets and clothing since the truce commenced, but they emphasize there is continues to be not enough aid getting in.

"We are working relentlessly to deliver that aid and to distribute it, but the scale of the requirements is so enormous that we are faced with many thousands of people and children who are genuinely enduring hardship every night," cautioned one spokesperson.

Future Concerns and Ceasefire Provisions

The second phase of the agreement encompasses arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of military forces, and other provisions.

Relief organizations have underscored the necessity for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to meet pressing and ongoing requirements."

The conflict was triggered by an attack in the autumn of 2023. Subsequent campaigns have led to a significant number of casualties in the territory, based on health ministry data.
