Iran Claims Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
