Ex- Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
